AirFinity features and technical specifications

AirFinity shows what each air compressor in your plant is doing and how much energy it uses, every minute, on a web dashboard and a mobile app. This page explains, in plain words, how the readings get from the compressor to your phone, and lists the technical details your engineer or IT team will ask about.

The data path

How a reading gets from the compressor to your phone.

AirFinity is a retrofit: it reads the data your compressor already has, adds sensors where it doesn't, and never touches the machine's own control system. It is designed to work with most compressor brands: we read the controller where it supports Modbus, or fit sensors where it does not.

    Compressor

    Your existing machines, most brands.

  2. 02

    RS-485 / sensors

Modbus RTU from the controller, or retrofit sensors.

  3. 03

    Edge gateway

Logs every minute. Buffers locally if the internet drops.

  4. 04

    Cloud

Firebase backend stores and syncs every reading.

  5. 05

    Dashboard + app

Live status, history and push alerts.

01 · The compressor
AirFinity connects to the compressors you already run. The compressor's own control system is not modified, so it keeps starting, stopping and loading exactly as it does today.
02 · RS-485 and Modbus RTU, or sensors
Many compressor controllers already measure pressure, temperature and run state. Where they do, AirFinity reads those values over RS-485 (a common industrial wiring standard: the cable the data travels on) using Modbus RTU (the data language most compressor controllers speak). Where a controller has no data connection, external sensors are fitted to the machine instead. Reading values the controller already measures avoids paying for duplicate sensors.
03 · The edge gateway
An edge gateway is a small logging device installed on site, between your compressors and the internet. It asks each compressor for its readings every minute, stores them, and forwards them to the cloud. If the factory internet drops, it keeps logging and holds the readings locally (this is called buffering), then re-sends them when the connection returns.
04 · The cloud
Readings are stored on a Firebase backend, Google's real-time cloud database service, so the dashboard and the app see the same data at the same time.
05 · Dashboard and app
Your team sees live status and history on a web dashboard and the mobile app, and gets a push notification (a phone alert from the app) when a reading crosses a limit or behaves abnormally.

Internet down? Readings are kept on site.

The gateway keeps logging on site and re-sends the buffered readings when the connection returns, within the gateway's storage and as long as it has power. Live dashboard updates and alerts resume when the connection is back.

What it measures

Four readings per compressor, every minute.

One electricity meter for the whole plant can't tell you which compressor is using the power. AirFinity records these four values separately for every machine it is connected to.

In plain words

  • Energy (kWh). The electricity each compressor uses. A kilowatt-hour (kWh) is the same unit your electricity bill charges for.
  • Discharge pressure. The air pressure as it leaves the compressor, shown in bar.
  • Temperature. A rising temperature is often an early sign that a compressor needs attention.
  • Run state. Whether the compressor is loaded (making air), unloaded (motor still running but making no air) or stopped. Time spent unloaded is power spent making no air. What unloaded running and leaks cost.
